The 1960s were a time of change in America. No longer were the youth willing to do as they were told, no questions asked. The Vietnam war and the civil rights movements wave a new voice to a new generation. The 1970s then began an age of experimentation and expansion of music. Topics were introduced that had never been discussed in polite conversation. Most of these Lyrics are still relevant today. This class will focus on how yesterday’s songs speak to today’s issues.
