Never Again - Genocide in the 20th Century

In the wake of the Holocaust, the phrase “Never Again”  became a call for the international community to not allow genocide to be committed again. However, there have been numerous examples of genocide over the past several decades. This course will examine the predominant themes of twentieth-century genocide and global efforts to respond to these eruptions of violence. Sessions will focus on the Armenian Genocide (1915 – 1917), the Khmer Rouge and the Cambodian Genocide (1975 – 1979), the Rwandan Genocide (1994), the case of Bosnia (1995), and examples of genocide in the 21st century.
