| 1917-1918 The Air War escalates with improved aviation technology and weapons. Long-range bombers, observation balloons, Zeppelins, Seaplanes, and new fighter aircraft are introduced. On the Western Front, “Bloody April” decimates the British Air Service, while the French and newly deployed Americans hold their own.
