Decorating and Design for the Home: The Basics

Students will learn how to start decorating their home by identifying how to choose colors, fabrics and paint. Through creating a storyboard, they will learn how to develop a focal point, arrange furniture and wall hangings, and design window treatments. The class will visit Decorating Mart fabric store to see the characteristics of quality furniture, pictures and fabrics. A wood floor expert will teach students about the differences in flooring. Students should bring pictures of one room in their home for design feedback from the instructor. The last class will be held in one lucky student’s home.
