History of Slavery

This class will examine the history of slavery with a focus on agriculture and how the field lead to the development of slavery. Students will learn about hunters and gatherers and how the task transformed into wealth and warfare. Slavery’s origins will be looked at in depth, including the cotton plantations of the South.
