The Atlanta Campaign of 1864

During the early days of May 1864, the Federal armies of Major General William T. Sherman entered Georgia, and began moving toward Atlanta. General Joseph E. Johnston and the Army of Tennessee attempted to thwart their advance, and a campaign of maneuver resulted. This course will cover the military action, from the opening engagements near Tunnel Hill, to the September fall of Atlanta.
