Civil War Spies

This course will explore the various methods used, North and South, in deploying spies to gather intelligence during the Civil War.  Men and women served as spies, and secret socities formed, as the combatants sought to gain a military advantage.  This course will explore the use of encrypted messages, life-risking missions behind enemy lines, and much more.
