The tour will start with a brief lecture at the KSU Center to explain what students will be learning during the tour. A bus will transport students to Atlanta where a bus tour of Fort Peachtree, Ellis Street, the railroad depot, and the Carter Center where Sherman was located with his commanders when the first shots were heard beginning the battle of Atlanta will be seen. The tour will also visit McPherson Monument where McPherson was killed after responding to the sounds of the first shots. Students will also explore Legget's Hill, the center of the fighting and then go to Oakland Cemetery where John Bell Hood was located. A drive through Dekalb Avenue and a discusssion of the several battle sites there will be included. The group will join together for lunch.
