Beginning Knitting

Students will learn basic kniting by making a pair of fingerless mitts and a matching hat.  Learn how to hold yarn and needles, cast on, use simple increase and decrease techniques to shape knitted fabric, bind off and sew a mattress stitch seam.  Explore knit and purl stitch patterns, color stripes and working in the round.  The class will include an introduction to tools used for knitting, reading ball bands and understanding yarn weight categories and guage.
