This course will provide a second step for beginning students.  The course is designed as a follow up for those who have taken Beginning Oil Painting or have some oil painting experience.  Students will continue to explore the use of oil paint with an emphasis on realism/impressionism using a limited palette.  Students knowledge and skills will grow by setting goals that the instructor will help monitor.  Students will paint wet on wet- or Alla Prima in this class.  Subjects to be explored are still life, landscape, portrait, and florals.  Instructor demonstrations will stress the basics of good.composition, value (tone) and color.  Light will also be emphasized.  Students will be instructed on how to execute larger paintings from their original work including research on subject manner, needed composition changes and materials.  This class will also introduce ongoing history and methods of other painters both past and present.  The final class will be devoted to professional presentation including framing, and reviews of local opportunities.
