Learn and master the necessary skillsets for professional Android application development by developing six trending applications during this course authorized by Google. This course will take you through the basics of Android Framework to working with complex applications.

You'll also explore using location and sensors, work with fragments and the user interface, use multimedia audio, video, and camera, syncing with cloud/Server, using Volley for Network Data interaction,in-App products and billing, and best practices for security and privacy.

Prerequisite: Students should have a basic understanding of programming concepts, particularly  Java programming fundamentals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Use and customize Android architecture

  • Build and publish your own Android apps in the Google Play store

  • Create apps for Android wearable devices

  • Create menus, settings, dialogs, and layouts

  • Work with creating bound services and communicate with remote service

  • Show how to work with content providers

  • Manage UI with fragments

Upon registering, you are given an initial six months to complete this program. Should you need more time beyond the initial access period, an extension of three months is available for a fee of $225.

Note: The following are the system requirements that will enable you to download the Android SDK (Software Development Kit) and Android Studio.

Windows

  • 32- or 64-bit versions of Microsoft® Windows® 8, 7, or Vista

  • 2 GB RAM minimum, at least 4 GB RAM recommended

  • 400 MB hard disk space

  • At least 1 GB hard drive space for Android SDK, emulator system images, and caches

  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution

  • Java Development Kit (JDK) 7

  • Optional for accelerated emulator: Intel® processor with support for Intel® VT-x, Intel® EM64T (Intel® 64), and Execute Disable (XD) Bit functionality

Mac OS X

  • Mac® OS X® 10.8.5 or higher, up to 10.9 (Mavericks)

  • 2 GB RAM minimum, at least 4 GB RAM recommended

  • 400 MB hard disk space

  • At least 1 GB hard drive space for Android SDK, emulator system images, and caches

  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution

  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6

  • Java Development Kit (JDK) 7

  • Optional for accelerated emulator: Intel® processor with support for Intel® VT-x, Intel® EM64T (Intel® 64), and Execute Disable (XD) Bit functionality

  • On Mac OS, run Android Studio with Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 for optimized font rendering. You can then configure your project to use Java Development Kit (JDK) 6 or JDK 7.

Linux

  • GNOME or KDE desktop

  • GNU C Library (glibc) 2.15 or later

  • 2 GB RAM minimum, 4 GB RAM recommended

  • 400 MB hard disk space

  • At least 1 GB hard drive space for Android SDK, emulator system images, and caches

  • 1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution

  • Oracle® Java Development Kit (JDK) 7
