Ready to become a productive member of a veterinary team? In this online course, you will learn about every aspect of veterinary assisting, including anatomy and physiology, animal restraint, laboratory sample collection, assisting in surgery and dentistry, prescription preparation, and taking radiographs. You will also learn how to interact professionally with clients and gain the expertise you need to educate them about key topics in pet care, such as nutrition, vaccinations, and administering medication. This program is designed for people who want to work at a veterinary hospital and for those who are already employed in positions in which they look after animals. You will receive training on intake & discharge of veterinary patients, client relations, and medical records. Learn about operating room conduct, surgical logs, and post-operative care as well as veterinary hospice care. You will also have access to videos on canine and feline body language and learn about AKC dog breeds and CFA cat breeds.
 
Prerequisite: A high school diploma or equivalent is recommended.

  • Understand how to restrain animals for procedures, take vital signs, and bathe them.

  • Prepare prescription and take blood samples and radiographs.
