Spanish is Fun! Part III

This course covers selected components from Chapters 9-12 as well as selected elements from Chapters 17 and 18 of Spanish Is Fun, Lively Lessons for Beginners, Book 1. The course will begin with a study of numbers up to 100. From there students will examine the names of various professions and then practice expressing one’s profession. Students will study how to describe location and temporary conditions of people and things versus permanent traits of people and things.  
The lesson will then proceed to a study of the present tense of ir verbs and a study of expressing actions that are happening in real time. Combined with this will be a study of the past tense of ir verbs. Finally, students will study how to express dates as well as the months of the year. Students will then identify celebrations and events that take place during specific months. Finally, specific components of Spanish/Latino culture will be examined and discussed.   
As a special component of each class, students will read together an assigned chapter of Easy Spanish Reader (see Suggested Reader information below). Students will discuss the reading and answer questions that follow.  Required Textbook: SPANISH IS FUN, LivelyLessons for Beginners, Book 1, Fifth Edition, (Heywood Wald / Lori Langer de Ramirez)  ISBN: 978-1-63419-928-5
