This hands on course is designed to provide individuals with the necessary skills to enter a professional office as an effective and productive team member. This class will provide solid, practical, and up-to-date coverage of office topics, beginning with information regarding the changing and challenging office and goes on to introduce key topics, such as interpersonal skills; job search; communications; time management; telecommunications; mail; records management; Financial procedures; appointments; visitors; travel; meetings and conferences; presentations; and professionalism in the office environment. Students will leave with an overview of how they fit into the realm of an office environment in their role as an administrative professional. Classes will include lecture, hands on exercises, critical thinking skills and portfolio applications with an example of their work.
Textbooks and a flash drive are required and are available at the KSU Center Bookstore.
This course will help to prepare you for the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) exam.
Prerequisite: High School Diploma or equivalency. Complete Skills Assessment and Program Application. Computer and Internet access required. Working knowledge of computers is also required.
