With the CompTIA™ Network+ Certification, you can demonstrate that you have the knowledge and skillset to take on a critical role in data networking. Throughout this course, you will build upon your existing IT knowledge by exploring computer networking concepts, including layers of the OSI model and the TCP/IP model. To gain further understanding, you will be able to practice the concepts being taught using interactive virtual software. The class is broken down into the following five sections: I. Network Architecture II. Network Operations III. Network Security IV. Troubleshooting V. Industry standards, practices and network theory
Prerequisites: Although it's not required, it's helpful if you have at least nine months of experience in network support or administration or academic training, along with a CompTIA™ A+ certification. This course can be taken on a Mac or a PC. On a PC, it is compatible with Windows XP and later operating systems and IE 7 and later browsers. You will need to have e-mail capabilities. High-speed internet is recommended. Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader are required for this course. In addition, you will need Windows Media Player Series 11 or later, DirectX 9+, and Java.
- Configure network devices, categorize WAN/LAN technology types, and describe common routing protocols.
- Evaluate addressing technologies and schemes, as well as implement services such as DCHP.
- Understand dynamic DNS and computer forensic practices.
- Conduct network monitoring and implement wireless security.
- Troubleshoot tools, wireless, copper cable issues, fiber cable issues, network issues, security issues, and WAN issues.
This program will prepare you to obtain a CompTIA Network+ Certification designation. After completing the program, you're encouraged to set up your own exam dates and times at a testing center close to you. An exam voucher is included in the cost of registration.
