« back to classes page
The history of the early American West remains one of the most interesting and studied periods of U.S. history. From 1800 until 1900 was a period of great westward expansion. Driving this effort were many larger than life characters.  Their personal stories are the foundation of this period. In a number of cases we still live with and see the legacy they left us. This class will focus on many of their lives.  From great explorers, lawmen, Native Americans, settlers, entrepreneurs and the military, this class will look at the personal lives of notables in these and other groups.
