« back to classes page
The Civil War and Reconstruction is always a favorite topic for historians and journalists; and much of what they write is still relevant. However, there were many other still relevant issues that arose during this period. Expansion, both industrial and national, increased immigration, growth of our cities, more rapid communication and transportation, and of course political scandals are only some of the developments that occurred in our nation during this period. In class we will look at some of the neglected and perhaps less glorious events of the Gilded Age which will provide further insight regarding the USA today.
